Gold Declines In Asia

40

Gold declined in Asia on speculation that investor demand for the precious metal is slowing on signs that the global economic recovery is strengthening.

Gold for immediate delivery decreased 0.2 percent to $1,208.95 an ounce at 9:14 a.m. in Singapore. Futures for August delivery in New York were little changed at $1,209 an ounce.

“Gold may need some impetus to break beyond the current level,” said Chae Un Soo, a Seoul-based trader with KEB Futures Co. “As concerns about the economic recovery ease, investors are losing their appetite for gold, though any sharp decline in prices is unlikely.”

Bets on gold price rises by hedge-fund managers and other large speculators dropped the most since April 2009. Assets in the SPDR Gold Trust, the biggest exchange-traded fund backed by bullion, decreased 1.52 metric tons to 1,314.51 tons on July 9, according to figures on the company’s website.

Speculative long positions, or bets prices will rise, outnumbered short positions by 209,042 contracts on the Comex in New York in the week ended July 6, U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission data showed. Net-long positions fell by 35,683 contracts, or 15 percent, from a week earlier.

Still, gold is headed for a 10th annual advance as investors seek to preserve their wealth from Europe’s financial turmoil. Thirteen of 20 traders, investors and analysts surveyed by Bloomberg, or 65 percent, said bullion will climb this week. Four forecast lower prices and three were neutral.

“We are in strange, uncharted waters as far as the world economy is concerned and as long as people have substantial insecurities about the major developed economies, I don’t see any reasons why that would change,” said Gavin Wendt, a senior analyst with MineLife Co. Ltd. in Sydney.

1 Today Is A Beautiful Day But I Cannot See…..

30

A blind boy sat on the steps of a building with a hat by his feet. He held up a sign which said: “I am blind, please help.” There were only a few coins in the hat.

A man was walking by. He took a few coins from his pocket and dropped them into the hat. He then took the sign, turned it around, and wrote some words. He put the sign back so that everyone who walked by would see the new words.

Soon the hat began to fill up. A lot more people were giving money to the blind boy. That afternoon the man who had changed the sign came to see how things were. The boy recognized his footsteps and asked, “Were you the one who changed my sign this morning? What did you write?”

The man said, “I only wrote the truth. I said what you said but in a different way.”

I wrote: “Today is a beautiful day but I cannot see it.”

Both signs told people that the boy was blind. But the first sign simply said the boy was blind. The second sign told people that they were so lucky that they were not blind.

So be thankful for what you have. Think positively.  When life gives you a 100 reasons to cry, show life that you have 1000 reasons to smile. Face your past without regret. Handle your present with confidence. Prepare for the future without fear. Keep the faith and drop the fear.

Imelda Marcos Jewels Put On Hold

Imelda With Her Big Emerald Ring And Earrings

Imelda is not only into shoes but her hoard of jewelries would be the envy of many countries dictators’ wives too.

Good to know what is going on in Philippines regarding the former First Lady who is still going strong at 80 and during last month election still won a seat in the lower house of the country’s parliament.

Philippine President Gloria Arroyo on Thursday called off her

administration’s efforts to sell the seized jewels of former first lady Imelda Marcos, saying this decision should be left to her successor.

The jewelry collection, which Manila once said was worth 336 million dollars, was seized after a popular revolt in 1986 toppled Ferdinand Marcos from power, sending him and his wife Imelda into exile in the US.

The collection includes a ruby pendant as large as a thumb and a 100-carat diamond necklace.

The government has charged that during the 20 years he was in power, Ferdinand Marcos, Imelda and his family stole billions from the state.  Imelda Marcos became famous for her jet-setting lifestyle during her husband’s presidency, amassing a huge collection of shoes and spending large amounts on luxuries while her country sank into poverty.

Her famous 30.76 ct. diamond bangle bracelet from Bulgari, NY, with a price tag still on it of $1,000,000 in 1986

Hundreds of criminal and civil charges have been filed against Imelda Marcos, but she has never been convicted and in this month’s national elections won a seat in the lower house of the country’s parliament. Her son was also elected to the senate, while one of her daughters was elected as governor of the family’s home province.
