Mayan Face Pendant, Jadeite Jade

A reader of mine who is a dealer in Guatemalan Jadeite Jade sent me a lot of pictures of the merchandises he is selling.  These are all Jadeite Jade and I would say that they are the Type A Jadeite Jade.

Guatemala is the second source of Jadeite Jade in the world.  Though its quality is not as excellent as Burmese Jadeite Jade, they are still Jadeite Jade, the mineral is getting rarer as the Chinese are the biggest buyers in the world and they are just not getting enough.

According to Rich (the name of the owner), the highlights of his collection are the giant 5 pound river rock from the Motagua river, the Olmec blue pieces, the moss-in-snow, black, the Mayan face pendants and some variants of green.

Rich is selling his Guatemalan Jade pieces on ebay too.  His user name is Nymentality1 and he has 100% positive feedback from his buyers.

Good Luck Rich!

A Arthur Lau

  1. Hello Peter, thank you for your comment. I have sent some very fine specimens at the Tucson Gems Fair too. There were perhaps a few dealers who sold rough boulders at Tucson. Regards, arthur

  2. There are much finer specimens to be obtained from Guatemala. These displayed I would qualify as medium to medium low grade. See the works of Donn Salt from New Zealand or Deborah Wilson from British Columbia or Matt Glasby from California.
I have an extensive inventory of quality Guatemalan Jadeite.

  3. Hi Ivan, thank you very much for your comment. Guatemalan jadeite jade is the only second source in the world, after Burma. Though it does not have the translucency and vividness of color as in Burmese jade, the mineral is indeed getting rarer, as the Chinese buys up the main bulk of the jadeite jade from Burma.

Thank you again for your comments
