Rough Jade Boulder

Hi Arthur,

We buy and sell jade from Guatemala.  This is the nicest and largest piece of ice jade that we have ever come across.  We would like to know the best place to market or auction this piece. Please let us know if you have any special clients who would be interested in this piece.

Kate

Hello Kate

Thank you for sending the pictures of a lovely icy jade piece.

I say that this is a really icy and highly translucent piece of rough jade.  The accompanying GIA certificate, I believed, that identified it to be jadeite jade refers to the small piece which you have sent for testing and identification.

The weight of this rough piece of jade is 3800 gm, including the cut-off piece.

I have sent emails to some jade dealers who might be interested to purchase your item.

Meantime I have posted it on my website.  If there are any readers who are interested to purchase or view the rough jade please contact me through email.  I will send the email of Kate to you so that you can deal directly.

Thank you

A Arthur

That’s incredible! Thank you for sharing the photos with us, Arthur.

The “skin” on the boulder leads one to infer that the jade was simply lying around, mixed with other rocks, embedded in silt. Is that how jade is often found in Guatemala? (As opposed to riverine jade in Xinjiang)

Makes me want to fly down there with several steel buckets…
